Cast with heavy shag, flared nostrils, and forward-facing horns. No tongue here—just the unmistakable profile of a Highland cow doing its job.

Each knocker is made from a marine-grade bronze alloy with the warm golden tone most people call brass. It arrives bright and will darken with time and touch. A quick polish brings it back.

Supplied with a matching backplate and fixings. Fits standard doors. Interchangeable with others in our range.

Material. Solid marine-grade bronze. The copper alloy used on yacht propellers, offshore fittings, and marine hardware. Handles salt spray, rain, frost, and decades outdoors. Warm brassy colour that deepens with age. No plating, no lacquer, nothing to chip off. Weathers so much better than brass. Technically an aluminium bronze (AB2, CuAl10Ni5Fe4), but bronze covers it.

Casting. Investment cast from 3D-printed wax patterns. Capturing whiskers, feather, and fur captured in beautiful detail. Printed, cast, fettled, and finished in our Yorkshire foundry.

Fixings. Front-screw fix to the door face. Fits composite doors, solid wood doors, and metal doors. No through-bolts, no drilling all the way through.

System. The head separates from the base. Fit the base once, swap the head as often as you like. Fifty-plus heads available, plus a wreath holder.

What's in the box. A head, the starter kit (base plate, ring, receiver, and fixings), and a step-by-step installation guide. Everything you need for a first fit to your door.

Guarantee. 30 years.

Bronze looks after itself. No polish, no cloth, no weekly routine. It will darken where it sits out of the rain and brighten where rain runs off it. That patina is the finish doing its job.

If you want it to look freshly cast again, a quick buff with a soft cloth and a little brass polish will bring the warm brassy colour back up. It will not come up to a full mirror shine, and that is deliberate. We do not lacquer the bronze, and every whisker, feather, and detail line on the head gets in the way of a perfect reflection. We would rather keep the character than the gloss.

Left alone, it will still be bright and yellowy. Just not mirror shine.

Returns. Zero faff. 90 days from delivery, return for any reason, full refund. Honest heads-up: we have had three returns in five years, mostly from house sales falling through, so it may take us a minute to work out how to do it. Drop us an email first and we will get you sorted.

Wax and casting off-cuts are recycled straight back into the next pour. Very little of what enters the foundry leaves as waste.

Recyclable cardboard and paper packaging. No plastic, no decorative pouches, no wooden boxes.

The 30-year guarantee is the real sustainability promise. Bronze is fully recyclable and outlasts the door it sits on. One knocker per door, not one per decade.

Do you make them in silver, CHROME OR ANTIQUE BRASS?

No. We believe in truth to materials. Every head is cast in our marine-grade bronze. We don't believe in plating. For a different finish, we can coat it in Cerakote ceramic paint (the finish used on firearms and aerospace hardware) for a supplement. Any colour you like, done to order. Please email us.

How big is it?

Head and base dimensions are listed on each product page. We are measuring and photographing the full set at the moment, so a handful are still to come.
