A fine marigold at the chin. Scrolling lines across the cheeks and brow. And a single geometric flourish tucked into the forehead, small, centred, and quietly precise. The sugar skull stripped back to its most refined form. No bold symbols. Just flow, form, and subtle movement in metal.

Every one starts as a wax pattern, 3D-printed so we can hold linework no hand tool can reach, then investment cast one at a time. That’s why the fine scrollwork stays this crisp. A mass-produced knocker is pressed from a worn die that blurs with every copy. Ours doesn’t. The detail is the point.

Each knocker is made from a marine-grade bronze alloy with the warm golden tone most people call brass. It arrives bright and will darken with time and touch. A quick polish brings it back.

Supplied with a matching backplate and fixings. Fits standard doors. And because it’s part of our interchangeable system, when the season turns you can swap the head for another without changing the base.

Material. AB2 aluminium bronze, left unlacquered. It will not rust. It handles salt spray, rain, frost, and decades outdoors. The warm brassy colour deepens with age. Nothing is plated on, so nothing chips off. It weathers far better than brass. The full spec is CuAl10Ni5Fe4.

Casting. Investment cast from 3D-printed wax patterns. Capturing whiskers, feather, and fur captured in beautiful detail. Printed, cast, fettled, and finished in our Yorkshire foundry.

Fixings. Front-screw fix to the door face. Fits composite doors, solid wood doors, and metal doors. No through-bolts, no drilling all the way through.

System. The head separates from the base. Fit the base once, swap the head as often as you like. Fifty-plus heads available, plus a wreath holder.

Measurements are approximate due to the handmade nature of the casting and finishing process.

Bronze looks after itself. No polish, no cloth, no weekly routine. It will darken where it sits out of the rain and brighten where rain runs off it. That patina is the finish doing its job.

If you want it to look freshly cast again, a quick buff with a soft cloth and a little brass polish will bring the warm brassy colour back up. It will not come up to a full mirror shine, and that is deliberate. We do not lacquer the bronze, and every whisker, feather, and detail line on the head gets in the way of a perfect reflection. We would rather keep the character than the gloss.

Left alone, it will still be bright and yellowy. Just not mirror shine.

Packaging. Recyclable cardboard and paper packaging. No plastic, no decorative pouches, no wooden boxes.

Dispatch. Twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. If you need it in a hurry, email us and we will bump you to the top of the queue.

UK. Free tracked and signed delivery on orders over £100. Royal Mail Tracked 48 otherwise.

International. We ship regularly to the USA, Canada, EU, Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and most destinations in between. A small number of countries are off our list due to export restrictions or delivery reliability. If in doubt, email before ordering. UPS for the US. All costs and taxes calculated at checkout.

Returns. Zero faff. 90 days from delivery, return for any reason, full refund. Honest heads-up: we have had three returns in five years, mostly from house sales falling through, so it may take us a minute to work out how to do it. Drop us an email first and we will get you sorted.

Fixings and instructions are in the box. Your first knocker arrives as a complete kit, ready to fit.

The backplate and receiver screw to the face of your door and stay there. The head hooks onto the backplate, and one bolt runs up through the head to lock the whole thing together.

Front-screw fix. It suits composite doors, solid wood doors and metal doors. No through-bolts, and no drilling all the way through.

To change the look later, loosen that one bolt, lift the old head away and drop a new one on. Every head we make fits the same backplate.

Do you offer other finishes, like silver, chrome or antique brass?

We don't plate. Every head is solid cast and left as the metal: a warm golden tone most people call brass, which deepens as it ages. If you want a different colour, we can hand-finish a head in Cerakote, a hard-wearing ceramic coating, in almost any shade, made to order. Email us and we'll sort it.

How big is it?

Every product page lists the exact head and full-set dimensions. As a guide, a full knocker stands around 21cm tall and 9cm wide, with the depth changing a little from design to design.

Do you ship to the US or worldwide?

Yes. We ship from Yorkshire to the USA, Canada, the EU, Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand and most places in between. Postage is calculated at checkout. Any import duty or tax is set by your own country and charged on arrival.
