No.4 in Foundry 26, our year of 26 new designs, and the design that completes the farmyard trio with the Yorkshire Pig and the Gloucestershire Old Spot. The dairy cow is the face of the British countryside, the one that looks at you over the hedge and takes her time about it. The character sits in the small stuff. The curl of the forelock. The set of the muzzle. You notice it when you step closer.

That detail only survives because of how we make it. We print the pattern in high definition, then cast it by hand in small batches using lost-wax investment casting. A mass-produced knocker comes out of a mould with a seam line and softened edges. Ours doesn't. No seam. No shortcuts. Detail no hand tool can reach.

Cast in marine-grade aluminium bronze, the same alloy used on yacht propellers. It will not rust. It arrives bright, with the warm brass tone most people are looking for, and deepens naturally with time and touch. If you prefer it lighter, a quick polish brings it back.

A complete set, supplied with a matching backplate and fixings. Fits standard doors. And because it's part of our interchangeable system, you can swap the head for another in seconds, no drilling, no new holes.

Material. Solid marine-grade bronze. The copper alloy used on yacht propellers, offshore fittings, and marine hardware. Handles salt spray, rain, frost, and decades outdoors. Warm brassy colour that deepens with age. No plating, no lacquer, nothing to chip off. Weathers so much better than brass. Technically an aluminium bronze (AB2, CuAl10Ni5Fe4), but bronze covers it.

Casting. Investment cast from 3D-printed wax patterns. Capturing whiskers, feather, and fur captured in beautiful detail. Printed, cast, fettled, and finished in our Yorkshire foundry.

Fixings. Front-screw fix to the door face. Fits composite doors, solid wood doors, and metal doors. No through-bolts, no drilling all the way through.

System. The head separates from the base. Fit the base once, swap the head as often as you like. Fifty-plus heads available, plus a wreath holder.

Measurements are approximate due to the handmade nature of the casting and finishing process.

Bronze looks after itself. No polish, no cloth, no weekly routine. It will darken where it sits out of the rain and brighten where rain runs off it. That patina is the finish doing its job.

If you want it to look freshly cast again, a quick buff with a soft cloth and a little brass polish will bring the warm brassy colour back up. It will not come up to a full mirror shine, and that is deliberate. We do not lacquer the bronze, and every whisker, feather, and detail line on the head gets in the way of a perfect reflection. We would rather keep the character than the gloss.

Left alone, it will still be bright and yellowy. Just not mirror shine.

Packaging. Recyclable cardboard and paper packaging. No plastic, no decorative pouches, no wooden boxes.

Dispatch. Twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays. If you need it in a hurry, email us and we will bump you to the top of the queue.

UK. Free tracked and signed delivery on orders over £100. Royal Mail Tracked 48 otherwise.

International. We ship regularly to the USA, Canada, EU, Central and South America, Australia, New Zealand, and most destinations in between. Do you make them in silver, CHROME OR ANTIQUE BRASS?

No. We believe in truth to materials. Every head is cast in our marine-grade bronze. We don't believe in plating. For a different finish, we can coat it in Cerakote ceramic paint (the finish used on firearms and aerospace hardware) for a supplement. Any colour you like, done to order. Please email us.

How big is it?

Head and base dimensions are listed on each product page. We are measuring and photographing the full set at the moment, so a handful are still to come.
