Where are your products made? | All of our pieces are designed in Yorkshire and cast by a family-run foundry on the edge of the North York Moors. |
How are your products made? | Each design begins as a digital sculpture in CAD, then printed on a high-resolution 3D printer. This allows for exceptional detail and complex undercuts not possible with traditional mould-making. The prints are used in the lost-wax investment casting process, before every piece is finished, checked, and packed by hand. Our family-run foundry is aerospace certified, working to exacting standards; your door knocker may well have shared an oven with the impeller of a hypercar turbo unit or a component destined for a jet engine. |
What materials do you use? | We use AB2, a marine-grade bronze alloy. Bronze is primarily copper with tin, whereas brass is copper with zinc. Bronze is harder and more durable, making it ideal for fine detail and long-term use. Although technically bronze, our alloy has the warm golden colour people recognise as brass. |
Why do you use AB2? | AB2 was originally developed for ship propellers and marine fittings. It is strong, weather-resistant, and captures fine detail beautifully. It develops a natural patina over time, but can also be polished back to a bright shine. We choose it because it makes products that are built to last a lifetime while staying true to the craft. The surface evolves with use and weather, embracing a sense of beauty in change, character, and imperfection. |
Which doors can your knockers be fitted to? | Our knockers can be installed on timber, composite, or uPVC doors. All fixings are supplied along with clear instructions. |
How do I care for the finish? | No maintenance is needed. Left untreated, the surface will develop a natural patina that tells the story of its life outdoors. This slow change is part of the appeal, echoing the Japanese idea of wabi-sabi — valuing the imperfect and the timeworn. If you prefer a brighter look, the metal can be gently polished and buffed. |
Are the knockers interchangeable? | Yes. Our proprietary system allows you to start with a kit and then collect interchangeable heads. They can be swapped easily and even displayed indoors as decorative pieces. |
